Why Promoters Miss Out on Eligible Government Schemes

The Government of India and various state governments offer substantial credit guarantees and investment subsidies to stimulate industrialization. However, due to convoluted application portals, rigid scheme guidelines, and lack of bank branch familiarity, over 70% of eligible entrepreneurs fail to benefit.

!

Pledging precious personal real estate when the business is eligible for collateral-free CGTMSE loans

!

Applying under wrong PMEGP agency categories leading to disqualification or margin forfeiture

!

Missing strict post-commissioning deadlines for claiming state capital and power subsidies

!

Bank branches claiming unfamiliarity with specialized scheme guidelines and asking for collateral

Expert Clarifications

Frequently Asked Questions

Institutional insights regarding appraisal standards, banking requirements, and advisory methodology.

Can an existing business apply for a PMEGP loan?

PMEGP is primarily designed for greenfield (new) micro-enterprises. However, existing well-performing PMEGP/MUDRA units can apply for a second loan of up to ₹1 Crore for manufacturing expansion (up to ₹25 Lakhs for service) with an eligible subsidy of 15% to 20%, subject to certain operational criteria.

Who pays the CGTMSE guarantee fee: the borrower or the bank?

The annual guarantee fee charged by the Trust is typically paid by the lending bank and passed on to the borrower as an annual debit to their credit account. Certain state industrial policies reimburse this annual guarantee fee to MSMEs.
