The Industry Challenge

Why Industrial Subsidies Get Disallowed or Delayed

Every state in India provides attractive industrial packages to woo manufacturing investments. However, subsidy rules contain strict pre-registration deadlines, machinery eligibility exclusions, and complicated verification audits that catch promoters off guard.

!

Failing to submit preliminary registration *before* taking commercial production steps

!

Disallowance of second-hand or unapproved machinery from eligible capital cost calculations

!

Inability to navigate multi-tiered physical inspections by District Industries Centers (DIC)

!

Delays of 2 to 4 years in subsidy disbursement due to procedural document deficiencies

Expert Clarifications

Frequently Asked Questions

Institutional insights regarding appraisal standards, banking requirements, and advisory methodology.

Can I claim a state capital subsidy if I did not take a bank loan?

In many state industrial policies, availing a formal term loan from a financial institution (bank or SFC) is a mandatory eligibility condition to claim capital subsidies. Self-financed projects are often excluded or eligible for lower incentives. We verify your state's exact policy rules before you finalize your means of finance.

What happens to the capital subsidy if the business closes or sells machinery?

Almost all government subsidy schemes mandate a 'lock-in period' (typically 5 to 7 years from commercial operations) during which the plant must remain operational and subsidized machinery cannot be sold, disposed of, or relocated. Breach of this condition leads to subsidy recovery with penal interest.
