Bank Covenant Benchmarking & Ratio Diagnostics
Analyze your enterprise's financial health through the exact lens of a bank credit underwriter. We evaluate liquidity, leverage, debt servicing, and profitability ratios against standard banking tolerance thresholds.
Why Inadequate Financial Ratios Trigger Loan Rejections
Commercial bank credit committees operate with strict risk-rating matrices. If a company's Debt Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR) dips below 1.33 or Total Outside Liabilities to Tangible Net Worth (TOL/TNW) exceeds 3.5:1, the loan application is rejected or downgraded, even if the business is profitable.
Failure to meet bank minimum DSCR (1.50–1.75x) leading to loan rejection or increased margin demands
Excessive TOL/TNW ratios caused by high trade payables or low equity capital base
Current ratios falling below 1.33:1 resulting in penal interest on working capital limits
Lack of awareness of Early Warning Signals (EWS) monitored by bank credit rating systems

Frequently Asked Questions
Institutional insights regarding appraisal standards, banking requirements, and advisory methodology.
How do banks treat unsecured loans from promoters when calculating TOL/TNW?
If unsecured loans from promoters are subordinated to bank debt (i.e., promoters give a written undertaking not to withdraw the funds during the loan tenure), most banks treat these loans as 'Quasi-Equity', adding them to Tangible Net Worth (TNW) rather than outside liabilities, dramatically improving the TOL/TNW ratio.
What is an acceptable ISCR for bank financing?
Banks generally require an Interest Service Coverage Ratio (ISCR = EBITDA / Interest) of at least 2.0x to 2.5x. An ISCR below 1.5x indicates significant risk that operating profit may be insufficient to service interest obligations.
