The Industry Challenge

The Working Capital Trap for Growing Enterprises

As businesses scale turnover, their working capital requirements expand exponentially. When bank limits fail to keep pace with sales growth, companies face cash flow choking, supplier payment delays, and inability to fulfill new purchase orders.

!

Arbitrary CC limit cuts due to inadequate drawing power or aging book debts over 90 days

!

High collateral margin demands from lenders due to sub-optimal financial presentation

!

Underutilization of non-fund limits (LCs) that could reduce cash borrowing costs

!

Struggling to calculate Maximum Permissible Bank Finance (MPBF) under banking formulas

Frequently Asked Questions

Institutional insights regarding appraisal standards, banking requirements, and advisory methodology.

What is MPBF and why do banks use it?

Maximum Permissible Bank Finance (MPBF) is an RBI-recommended formula (originally established by the Tandon Committee) used by banks to determine the maximum working capital finance a borrower is eligible for. It ensures that borrowers contribute a minimum percentage (typically 25%) of their current assets from long-term sources.

Can debtor balances older than 90 days be included in Drawing Power?

Generally, Indian commercial banks exclude book debts exceeding 90 days (or 120 days for select capital goods industries) when calculating Drawing Power. We help you structure your sales ledger and credit terms to maintain healthy, bank-eligible receivables.
